Dr. King taught us to believe;President Obama can teach us to win
By Kwesi McDavid-Arno
Dr. King taught us to believe President Obama can teach us to win. In making that statement, I am not limiting Dr. King to a wishful dreamer but rather acknowledging that his legacy of belief is an important one. Dr. King taught us to believe in a better world, to believe in ourselves, and most importantly, to believe that we could and would one day change the world. However, Dr. King didn t win. His family suffered a difficult loss, and the establishment stole his legacy and limited this great man to one speech, that he made five years before his assignation.
I read two of Dr. King s speeches to prepare for this article 1 I Have a Dream , August 28, 1963 2 Remaining Awake Through a Great Revolution , March 31 1968.
Dr. King died on April 4, 1968 his second to last speech is a serious policy critique of the US government that is more akin to a Malcolm X speech. Dr. King was a visionary and his war on Poverty outlined in Remaining Awake Through a Great Revolution is President Obama s road map to greatness.
I am not trying to place President Obama in the class of Dr. Martin Luther King. However, President Obama is a winner and that is important. Far too often Black intellectuals focus on abstract political and moral ideals instead of just winning. I don t mean some meaningless sport, but winning in life having a happy family earning enough

Older Woman vs. Younger Man Survivor Tips To Help an Older Woman Sustain a Relationship with a Younger Man
By Afrika Brown
Ladies, in spite of our constant complaints about not wanting to play games when it comes to love, it seems that most relationships are a series of mental and emotional arm wrestling matches. A relationship with a man of any age is certainly a challenge, yet any woman that has a relationship with a younger man would concur that the word challenge would be an understatement. Your chess skills would have to rival those of Bobby Fischer to be able to sustain a relationship with a younger man and maintain your mental capacity.
I have gained much knowledge as a veteran of a long and committed relationship with a twenty something man. In that time, I have learned that a relationship with a younger man is truly a private game of Survivor without the exotic locale, disgusting cuisine, and physical challenges. This is a game that is purely mental and emotional there is no immunity. The goal of this Survivor is to out clever , out sport , and out last your younger lover. Based on my three year scrimmage with my younger partner, I have devised a few tips that will assist an older woman entering into a relationship with a younger man.

Republicans Conservatives Provide Valuable Teaching Tools
By A. Peter Bailey
Events taking place over the past six months provide valuable teaching tools for African American parents and other concerned folks who are serious about preparing our children for the real world in which they live. It is important to note that the very revealing comments that follow were not made by European American cab drivers, truck drivers or NASCAR fans but by prominent European American Republicans Conservatives, some of whom are seeking to be their party s candidate against President Barack Obama in November 2012.
I must state upfront to not being a member of the Obama posse. He most definitely is not above criticism, even harsh criticism, for some of his actions and inactions in both the domestic and international arenas.

Is Hip-Hop News Really News?
By Jamal Bell
Over the years, rap has been straying further and further away from the music. While new songs, albums, and mixtapes still prove to be newsworthy, a huge chunk of Hip-Hop headlines have nothing to do with the music. Reading Hip-Hop news is almost as bad as reading the tabloids in the grocery store, plenty gossip but no substance.
I understand that stardom in Hip Hop has totally changed. Artists from the past didn t necessarily get the media exposure that they wanted or deserved. Nowadays, all you have to be is a fresh new artist to be easily marketed and in the spotlight. And the exposure for big names is out of the question. Kanye West s outfit can be news. We must understand that technology plays a huge role in this. We have mobile phones that capture everything, right in our front pocket. Back in the day, people had to really dig to find out information. Nowadays, a simple tweet can cause a ruckus.
Don t get me wrong, I LOVE Twitter. It s a great vehicle for promotion. I find out about a lot of new music by simply following artists on that site. Artists use twitter to announce new upcoming music, or may even tweet a picture of them in the studio at work. At the same time, Twitter is a battlefield. Last year, Chris Brown made a statement about how he

The Superhuman Corporation in Ancient America
By Sid Davis
One day in the future, historians will publish a book or transmit a digital file, more likely about the decline and fall of the United States of America. This history might point to any number of fatal causes. It might talk about how the country fiscally starved as its richest citizens paid fewer and fewer taxes, or it might discuss the trillions spent on costly wars to seize oil from other nations. But most likely this future book or file, if it s well researched, will conclude that the United States failed because of the corrupting power of corporate money.
Examples of this corruption will be plentiful, but if the future historians are asked to select a primary culprit, or at least a piece of the puzzle that encapsulates the misfortune of the fallen empire, they ll probably point to the corruption of American courts that brought about rulings placing corporate rights above those of people. They ll explain that via two hundred plus years of litigation from Dartmouth College v. Woodward to Citizen s United corporations fought for and were finally bequeathed a fully human status that was known at the time as corporate personhood.
