Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Spaceghostpurrp at Highline Ballroom Highline is a strange venue in that it allows, even encourages rampant blazing of the finest herbs throughout its space.  The night's host, performers and patrons blow blunts as casually as children blow bubbles with their gum.  The last time I was there Action Bronson threw an ounce of weed worth of gram bags out to the crowd.  You've never seen stoners run so quickly and aggressively, and almost trample their fellow tokers for a dub sack.

So when the Highline bouncers started coming around and getting concert-goers to put out their kush and diesel, people started getting very dismayed.  After all, Gramz was smoking a blunt on stage.  And this was the Highline!  Gramz had been unable to enthrall the crowd, but he noticed that something else was amiss.  "They taking ya bud?" he asked.  "Yes!" said at least 5 people.  Gramz immediately passed his blunt into the crowd.  Everyone loved him after that.  Soon Freeway and a plethora of ASAP Mob members were in the building, and the tension was ratcheting up.

Purrp came out like it was 1991, which is his thing.  He had an entourage of RVIDXRKLVN (RAIDERKLAN) members with him, and the crowd began to howl.  At this point, especially at NYC rap shows, the crowd has a tendency to try to act cooler than thou.  People stand still and nod their heads, not moving, shouting, bopping and throwing hands to show love.  When Purrp came out and dropped two songs from his upcoming project GXD XF BLVCK (God Of Black) "Don't Give a Damn (Miami Bass)" and "Mystical Maze," people were in shock.  Their bodies began to respond, bouncing, pushing, screaming and incepting others with the sounds of satanic majesty that have defined Purrp's early career.  Some of the songs, like GXT YVH HXVD BVZT (GET YAH HEAD BUST) sound like they were created within the damp, echoing confines of a torture chamber.  Purrp's RVIDXRKLVN ran across the stage, establishing eye contact and warning everyone not to get their head bust with sinister, sincere expressions.

Purrp pulled out electric slide/boogie/Michael Jackson moves throughout his set, and repeatedly told the crowd how much he loved them.  At one point the entire ASAP team jumped on stage with him for a moment of blunt puffing partying, and the crowd rejoiced.  There had been rumors that Purrp and ASAP had a falling out, but Purrp vociferously turned to Rocky and told him he was his "twin" and that he loved him.

By the time SVCK V DICK FXR 2011 rang out, only 25 minutes into Purrp's set, the front row of the concert had turned into a mosh pit.  Purrp left abruptly after the song, concluding a stellar yet brief set.  For those of you who don't know, get his entire discography here: http://atrilli.net/2011/11/spaceghostpurrp-official-discography/.  In a year or two you'll be listening to him like everyone else, so why not shorten the process?
