Causing Necessary Kaos
Written by DC POET MOODY
After somehow stumbling across one of the newest talents emerging from Washington, DC; Necessary KaosBand, I couldn’t help but to be amped and I decided I had to blog about them. However I was informed by one of the members that I was a year late because that’s how long they have been together, but hey better late than not at all. Now they are far from your average band. For starters, they are a go-go band, which is enough of a barrier in itself to break now. Next they are all females, but what probably puts the icing on the cake is the fact that they are all lesbians. After a brief interview through Facebook with Mace who is one of the MC”S, its safe to say they just want people to focus on their talents. “We just want to be respected and recognized for our talents as a band and individually…And to show women all over especially in D.C. that no matter what’s your sexual preference…any dreams or goals can be reached.” True example thatanything is possible with persistence and hard work; despite any obstacle that may show itself along the road. Now after listening to their music which can be found on Youtube as well as their Facebook page Necessary KaosBand, I was able to conclude that they are far from shy in what it is that they like. So if you get offended easily, then it’s simply not for you. Yet their single “Rude Boi” in my opinion cranks real hard. I can get down to this record because it simply gets the party going. They are doing their part in making sure the bounce beat movement continues right along. Once the beat drops in “Rude Boi” everything becomes extra hype and you can’t help but to dance. The sounds, it’s as if every instrument player has intertwined with each other making a perfect harmony. It rocks hard and it’s amazing how they are able to come together and make this great music. The bounce beat is in full effect when these ladies get going and I love it. I’m not going lie, Im very bias, but hey can you blame me? Cee Lo Green releases revamped “F**k You” video
Written by Kimberly Turner
Cee Lo Green’s childhood crush is probably kicking herself right now. The Goodie Mob and Gnarls Barkley member is riding high on the viral success of “F**k You,” the first single from his upcoming release The Lady Killer. “F**k You” is finally getting it’s due with a new glossy video to match its acclaim.
The previous video for the contagious tune was simple, but very effective—the F-bomb laced lyrics in bold letters over various colored backgrounds. It has reached over four million views on YouTube and counting.
GO-GO:DC'S MUSIC, PASSION, AND WAY OF LIFE
Written by DC POET MOODY
Okay so for the next week, I will be blogging about DC artist and our oh so famous go-go music which is probably hated more than its liked by many. This is not for the haters, so please leave the hating elsewhere. What hip-hop was to New York in the 80's is what go-go music is to the DC metro area. On a Saturday night in Forestville, MD you can find young go-go heads lined up to see the "bounce beat kings" known as TCB. On a night when you are in the mood for a much older and mature crowd Backyard Band is who you want to see. Go-Go is a blend of alot of different genres of music: from hip-hop, to R&B, and even funk. When describing the sound in more detail, I would go with percussion instrutments and funk style jammings. Go-go however does alot of sampling and this is probably why it has yet to go mainstream. Some of the instrutments used in go-go music are congos, bass guitars, electric guitar, and saxophone just to name a few. Chuck Brown the go-go legend is the creator of the unique blend of music. Influenced by soul artist like James Brown Chuck established the DC metro are as the go-go city in the mid 1970's. The go-go scene is truly an unbelievable sight to see. You have beautiful women with an amazing style and flare. Gorgeous guys with amazing sex appeal, dreadlocks, and Rose Moet everywhere. Its a party and you are bound to leave the club dripping sweat due to so much dancing and gyrating throughout the night. When the music gets going and the beats start its a non-stop party. It starts out slown most of the time and then in TCB's case "IIIITTTSSS THE BOUNCE BEAT" which sounds like beats all over the place along with the electric guitar. Go-go music makes alot of artists music popular in the DC area due to the go-go remix of alot of records. And the outpour of artist that come to DC to perform with the bands shows just how well respected the music is.

Another Reason Why Yeezy Is A Genius...
Written by The Company Man
...His unwavering respect for the history of The Culture and the resolute place it holds in his genre pushing musical endeavors.
At it’s core, Yeezy’s entire career has always included shout outs and mini memorials to rap’s flag bearers, reminding heads where Hip Hop has been.
Whether it’s the sped up soul samples and cross-boundaries collaborations that defined the sound of his early work while paying homage to Golden Era icons absent from the commercial radio radar through lines like “The way the beat knock / New version of Pete Rock” and “Do the fans want a feeling of A Tribe Called Quest / But all they got left is this guy called West”, or his penchant for crafting party jams that simultaneously jam the mind with a message a la Hip Hop’s earliest origins -- Kanye consistently bridges the gulf between generations while pushing the margins to the brink of breech.
His latest historical redeux: the true remix.
Must Listen Mixtape: Dom Kennedy From The Westside with Love
Written by Antwain Jackson
I honestly feel that Dom Kennedy's From the Westside with Love is my favorite mixtape that dropped in 2010. And with mixtapes lilke Fab's There is No Competition 2, Wiz Khalifa's Kush & OJ and Wale's More About Nothing that is a bold statement. From the Westside with Love has been in constant rotation for the last 5 months. This mixtape is a must to have on your iTunes or Windows Media Player. I guarantee satisfaction to your ears. Rating 9/10.
