This is the Omega Psi Phi CrestIn his provocative, revealing, very informative, must-read book (published in 1967), “Where Do We Go From Here: Chaos or Community?,” Martin Luther King, Jr. wrote that “There are already structured forces in the Negro community that can serve as the basis for building a powerful united front - - the Negro Church, the Negro press, the Negro fraternities and sororities and Negro professional organizations. We must admit that these forces have never given their full resources to the cause of Negro liberation….But the failure of the past must not be an excuse for the inaction of the present and the future….”

Why President Obama Will Not Seek Re-Election

The conflict between the Obama Administration and General Stanley McChrystal re-enforces my belief that President Obama’s chance of being re-elected president of the United States in 2012, is probably slimmer than those of his being elected to the office in 2008.

In fact, it’s becoming increasingly obvious that President Obama, after the 2010 elections, will announce that he will not seek a second term. My position is based on a belief that the biggest cause of the harsh economic dislocation that has gripped this country for the past three or four years is not that working class and middle income people couldn’t or wouldn’t pay their mortgages; it is the humongous cost of the wars of choice in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Among several e-mails I received in response to my column, “Why President Obama Will Not Seek Re-Election” was one from an Atlanta (GA) Voice reader. He wrote scornfully, that the organization, World Can’t Wait (WCW), has an ad that “attempts to challenge particularly progressive people (like yourself) to end their complicity of silence when it comes to President Obama….You are playing a game (and asking us to join in) that you can’t win, that not just your super but your run of the mill patriots desperately want us to play.”

Bill O’Reilly’s Obsession with “Playing the Race Card”

Bill O'RileySo-called conservatives in this country spend much of their time accusing Black folks of “playing the race card” when practically any comment is made about expressions of white supremacy. The leader of the conservative mantra on this subject is Fox “fair and balanced” Cable News’ reigning propagandist, Bill O’Reilly.

On his television program and in his newspaper column, O’Reilly regularly scolds those whom he considers “playing the race card.” In a recent column he pontificated about speaking to a gathering of Al Sharpton’s National Action Network during which he told the attendees that “…branding the tea party as a racist group would be  a huge mistake that could actually create racism….”

Black Folks Must Wake Up and Smell the Colored Greens

Rush Limbaugh Smoking CigarIt is time for Black people to wake up and smell the collard greens. It has become increasingly and ominously clear that significant numbers of Whites in this country consider the presence of Barack and Michelle Obama in the White House as an abomination, an unnatural state of affairs, a betrayal of all they have been taught about the proper place for Black people to occupy in the scheme of things.
